Major outage at Spotify. Since early this afternoon, many users have been unable to listen to a single song on the music streaming app. On DownDetector and social media, complaints have skyrocketed. arrow.
If you can't listen to a single song on Spotify, you're unfortunately not alone. On this Wednesday, April 16, the music streaming app is visibly affected by a major outage. Around 2 p.m., user complaints and reports skyrocketed on DownDetector, a platform specializing in tracking outages of the most popular services.
At the time of writing, there are currently no fewer than 6,125 reports on DownDetector. On social media, the situation is the same, and more and more users are complaining about the situation. “It's not just me, Spotify is down,”” wrote Asher on X. “Spotify is down, I thought my account had been hacked,” says another on Elon Musk’s social network.
Spotify is completely down, impossible to listen to songs
For our part, we are also affected by this outage. Concretely, the app launches without a hitch, the home page displays correctly, but when we start playing a song, we were treated to a beautiful black screen. For other users, the app is no longer able to connect to the servers and indicates that there is no longer an Internet connection. Some have tried to reinstall the app and ended up with an error message stating that their email address is false. Unfortunately, nothing to do more for now than be patient.
On X, Spotify's technical teams have just reacted on the official Spotify Status account: “We are currently aware of certain problems and we are checking them!”. Consequently, we do not have more details at this time on the origin of the outage or its extent. Of course, we will update this article as soon as we know more about these multiple malfunctions and a possible return to normal services.
We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!
