Mickey Mouse got a little carried away and is getting his affairs back in order. Indeed, the company with the big ears had announced an exuberant number of projects, some of which haven't been heard of for months. At Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm's Chief Creative Officer, confirmed six films. A new era is dawning for the big screen...

Nothing is certain on this subject, except that Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the development of this triptych. Regarding the film with Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley), The New Jedi Order, you can rest easy: it has not moved from Disney's schedule. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it will be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and will tell, as its title suggests, how the heroine founds a New Jedi Order.
James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi film is still in Disney's pipeline. After directing the excellent Logan in 2017 and the very mediocre Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023 (a box-office flop), the director will tackle the origins of the Jedi Order, 25,000 years before the events of the main saga. The project will have an epic and biblical dimension, according to rumors. The Taika Waititi-directed installment, announced with great fanfare by Disney in 2020, is still in development at Disney. Disney "forgets" these Star Wars films
Since 2017, Lucasfilm and Disney have been announcing projects that end up either being postponed indefinitely or being abandoned along the way. The film supposed to unify the "Mandoverse" on the big screen by Dave Filoni may never see the light of day. Tasked with concluding the narrative arcs of the series The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, it was supposed to take place between Episodes VI and VII of the Skywalker Saga. Unfortunately, he wasn't mentioned by Kathleen Kennedy at Star Wars Celebration 2025...
Bad luck for fans of Lando Calrissian, his film is stalled... Played by Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, the character is an ally/best enemy of Han Solo, whose solo adventures he shared in 2018 in Solo: A Star Wars Story. After being announced as a television series, the project now seems set to be simply buried.
Despite the cancellation of two projects, the future of Star Wars in cinemas looks bright. A revival that should please fans of the big screen!
