A new electric car is arriving on European roads. It comes from China and has a surprisingly low price. Its manufacturer hopes to attract a wide audience this year.

The Chinese manufacturer Nio has decided to go on the offensive on the Old Continent with its new brand Firefly. The first model, a compact electric city car, will be available from the third quarter of 2025 in the Netherlands and Norway, before being rolled out gradually in other European countries where the group is already established. 
Nio offers the Firefly from 29,900 euros with a range of 330 km
The Nio Firefly is an electric city car that is 4 meters long. It is equipped with a rear motor of 143 horsepower (105 kW), capable of reaching 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Its range reaches 330 km in the WLTP cycle thanks to a 42.1 kWh LFP battery. Fast charging allows you to go from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes. Two trim levels will be available, starting at 29,900 euros in the Netherlands. In China, this model could be sold for around $17,000, or about 15,900 euros, but this version will not be available in Europe. Compared to it, models like the Fiat 600e or the Dacia Spring have higher prices for similar features.
The interior adopts a refined style with a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 6-inch digital instrument panel. There are 27 storage spaces, heated seats, recycled materials and, depending on the trim, a panoramic roof, ventilated seats with electrical adjustments, a wireless charger and even a fragrance diffuser. Available in six colors with a black roof, the Firefly also includes customizable ambient lighting, the V2L function to power electrical devices, as well as remote updates. Level 2 semi-autonomous driving will also be included. Nio is clearly targeting urban drivers looking for a compact, well-equipped vehicle at a reasonable price.
