Three years after her first appearance on Netflix, the eldest daughter of the Addams Family is ready to return to service. The platform with the red N had promised us the return of Wednesday for sometime in 2025 and this date is now confirmed. Unsurprisingly, the entertainment giant is counting on a Wednesday to unveil the first trailer and the release date of the long-awaited new season. Your patience will be rewarded with a release later than expected: the first episodes will be available on the platform from August 6, 2025. The salvo will be split into two parts, with a second wave that will be accessible to as of September 3, 2025.
As a reminder, the English titles of the first four episodes had already been revealed, with recurring elements of misfortune, worries and setbacks, themes encompassed by the word “woe” in the language of Shakespeare:
- Episode 1: Here We Woe Again
- Episode 2: If These Woes Could Talk
- Episode 3: The Devil You Woe
- Episode 4: The Great Outwoes
Less Netflix stereotypes, more horror
Jenna Ortaga – who plays Wednesday Addams – had announced in an interview given to Variety that notions that are too “adolescent” of the first season, like the romance widely criticized by viewers, were going to be abandoned in favor of elements more in line with the Addams Family. "We are moving more into horror," declared the young actress. And these promises seem to have been kept.
The first trailer for the series is truly a pleasure to see. The dark humor and the atypical artistic direction of the first season were retained and now come with a much darker atmosphere, sprinkled with a good dose of action. If Wednesday agrees for the first time in her life to return to a school she has already attended, it is because her investigations at Nevermore Academy are still far from over.
Unsurprisingly, Emma Myers is back in the role of Enid, a character who will also be reworked in this season to avoid sinking into clichés. The other members of the Addams Family also seem to be much more present, since the family ties that unite them will be at the heart of the new plot.
The mysterious presence of Lady Gaga
In 2022, the Netflix series largely benefited from a TikTok trend driven by the song Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga. As a nod to this collaboration, which wasn't even official, the pop star was offered a role in the second season. No information has yet been released. revealed about the importance of her character in the next batch of episodes, and the trailer also keeps us from telling us more. Will the artist known as Mother Monster play a significant role, or will she just serve as a simple reference to TikTok's "Wednesday Dance"? Check back in a few months to find out.
