Despite the various controversies surrounding it, Assassin's Creed Shadows was the success Ubisoft needed. The game sold 3 million copies in just a few weeks, making it the second-highest-grossing game in a single day in the franchise. It's now just behind Valhalla, which had largely benefited from the boom in video game sales caused by the pandemic. Ubisoft has set its sights on this. The French company intends to continue the adventures of Naoe and Yasuke for a while, allowing its other games currently in production to benefit from the additional development time that Assassin's Creed Shadows has greatly benefited. A first narrative expansion is therefore expected later this year, and its release window has just been leaked.
When will the Awaji Hunt DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows be released?
Once again, this new leak comes from Tom Henderson and his site Insider Gaming. Always well-informed when it comes to Ubisoft and its short- and long-term plans, the insider claims that the first paid DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, "Awaji Hunt," is currently planned for September 2025 internally. Unlike other projects underway at the French publisher, the game's roadmap has not been affected by the various delays, according to the site's sources. That being said, there's no guarantee that this date is set in stone. The expansion could indeed be pushed back to October, depending on Ubisoft's final strategy for current DLC and future games.
As a reminder, Assassin's Creed Shadows: Awaji Hunt will feature a new storyline that will bring approximately 10 hours of additional content. A new weapon type, additional skills, and new equipment will obviously be included. However, this would only be the beginning for the game. Ubisoft has already shared a first roadmap for the follow-up to Assassin's Creed Shadows, with a first update arriving in the coming days, which will notably bring improvements to parkour and photo mode. A second major update will be deployed during June 2025 with a new free quest, additional difficulty levels, and much more.
