In recent months, the gradual price increases affecting the video game industry have been causing a stir. From the PS5 Pro selling for €800 to Mario Kart World and its €90, including yet another €50 price increase for the Xbox Series, there's reason to worry about the future. In fact, many are already beginning to wonder if other publishers, like Take-Two with GTA 6, for example, might follow the trend. But one thing is certain: this will not be the case for Electronic Arts, and therefore EA FC 26.
No price increase in sight for EA FC 26
During his latest financial statement, Andrew Wilson confirmed to investors that no price increase was planned on their part. "From a gaming perspective, we have not made any changes to our current strategy at this stage," stated the EA CEO. However, this did not prevent him from emphasizing that, in his eyes, all these changes are ultimately just a reflection of an industry in constant evolution. "Our business is very different today than it was even ten years ago," he said.
"In a world where all we did ten years ago was sell pretty plastic boxes on store shelves, while that's still part of our business, it's a much smaller part of our business. And we now have price points that represent everything from free-to-play to Deluxe Editions and beyond," he added. "And what we've discovered over time is that if we can combine quality and value, our business is strong, resilient, and continues to grow.".
Words that still sow doubt...
EA FC 26 players can rest assured, the title should not cost more than the €80 currently available for EA FC 25. That being said, if there is Well, one thing the industry has taught us in recent years is that things can change very quickly. And of course, when you see Andrew Wilson end his statement with "at this point", it's hard not to consider the idea that the issue is actually already under review. So let's hope we don't have a domino effect now that Nintendo has stepped into Pandora's box.
