Marvel: 6 MCU Heroes Who Did More Harm Than Good

Marvel: 6 MCU Heroes Who Did More Harm Than Good

Superheroes are supposed to do good deeds, right? Well, that hasn't always been the case, especially in the MCU. Some heroes, supposed to do good, have also done very bad deeds. Here's proof with these 6 characters.

#1 The Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff's journey in the MCU has been a roller coaster. She began her "career" as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron before joining the heroes' side at the end. Unfortunately, this was short-lived, as after the events of Infinity War and Endgame, she was traumatized by the loss of Vision, the love of her life. This pain drove her to create a new reality in WandaVision where she built an imaginary family, which only reinforced her madness. She then unleashed it in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by eliminating many people, including heroes like the Illuminati. Wanda certainly has extenuating circumstances, but in reality, she has more often been on the side of the villains than the heroes. Even though her fate seems sealed, there's hope that The Scarlet Witch will return, and we already have a few stories that Marvel could adapt.

#2 Loki

A mischievous Norse god, Loki was the Avengers' first major threat. By stealing the Tesseract, he committed many misdeeds, both against his own people and against Earth. Despite his ambivalent personality, Loki has always distinguished himself by his opportunism, as evidenced by his usurping Odin's throne. It's only truly during Thor: Ragnarok that he begins to adopt a more heroic role, something that is confirmed in the Loki series.

#3 Thor

Loki is no choirboy, but neither is Thor. It's worth remembering that before being an Avenger, Thor was a battle-hungry and irresponsible god of thunder. Although he followed Loki's advice, he still went to Jotunheim to exterminate the Frost Giants, putting his companions in a difficult situation. Later on, he would lose this arrogance, except for one specific moment. He could have quickly defeated Thanos and prevented the events of Endgame if he hadn't wanted to savor his victory.

#4 Spider-Man

Spider-Man is arguably Marvel's most popular superhero, but in the MCU, he's often caused serious problems. In every film, he makes a serious mistake: the Staten Island Ferry incident is his fault, he entrusts E.D.I.T.H. to Mysterio, and he causes the opening of the multiverse with the help of Doctor Strange (who has his share of responsibility) for a rather selfish purpose. In his defense, Peter Parker is young and needs to learn the ropes. On the other hand, we hope that in Spider-Man: Brand New Day he will mature.

#5 Iron Man

The first hero of the MCU, Iron Man is also the one who has committed the most evil deeds. It all started before his life as a superhero when he was a detestable industrialist who clearly did not contribute to peace on Earth. After becoming Iron Man, the situation has not really improved. Tony Stark is at the origin of several villains, including the Vulture, Mysterio, and especially Ultron. The latter's creation will create divisions within the Avengers, paving the way for Thanos' victory.

#6 The Thunderbolts

Currently in theaters, Thunderbolts* features a group of villains seeking redemption. Naturally, Yelena, Bucky, Red Guardian, John Walker, Taskmaster, and Ghost have spent more time doing evil than good. Despite this, Thunderbolts* suggests they will manage to completely redeem themselves. With a storyline dealing with depression, they've already taken a huge step forward.
