Stalker: A great surprise for long-time fans

Despite all the obstacles, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been released. And despite its flaws, it's a resounding comeback that commands respect. In its current form, the sequel has garnered 81% positive reviews out of 85,189 ratings posted on Steam. After stabilizing performance and offering better graphics, the title will see further improvements and fixes in the coming weeks. Eventually, humans will be smarter in combat, mutants will have more varied reactions, and there will be further optimizations, such as shader compilation times and support for ultrawide screens.

A better version of Stalker's beginnings is coming...

The roadmap, and therefore the new features of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl for 2025, has been revealed by GSC World. And the developers still have a lot of work to do to get closer and closer to the vision they had before being caught up in the war in Ukraine that disrupted their daily lives. In this list of improvements, additions, and fixes, the studio talked again about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone, the remastered trilogy including S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat.

In 2024, GSC World released Stalker Legends of the Zone Trilogy on PS4 and PC. Shortly after, the team confirmed that there would be a free update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC. We don't have all the details of this patch yet, but we do know that it will contain graphical and performance improvements, as well as other features. And there's a great surprise for long-time fans: the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Stalker Legends of the Zone Trilogy have been registered by the Taiwan Classification Authority. Barring any last minute problems, the update will therefore be available in 2025.
