In a message posted on Truth, his social network, he explains that Hollywood is dying, and that to "encourage" American production, he will impose extremely harsh customs duties on films shot abroad...

The American film industry is dying very quickly. Other countries are offering all sorts of incentives to lure our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood and many other parts of the United States are being devastated. This is a concerted effort by other nations and, therefore, a threat to national security. This, on top of everything else, is messaging and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to immediately begin the process of imposing a 100% tariff on all motion pictures entering our country produced abroad. WE WANT FILMS PRODUCED IN AMERICA, AGAIN!

As a reminder, last month, Donald Trump had already announced drastic measures regarding customs duties by surtaxing Chinese products entering the United States by 145%, as well as products from other countries at lower percentages. The President of the United States is keen to relocate film production to American territory, in order to prevent major studios from shooting their films in other countries. This is ironic, when so many blockbuster productions are currently underway outside the country, such as Christopher Nolan's Odyssey, which was partly filmed in Europe...
