The Swedish manufacturer is introducing Gemini into a car interior and will modernize its voice assistant, already designed by Google, which is sometimes very imprecise. With artificial intelligence, there's no longer any question of getting stuck on understanding questions. Gemini will be able to answer many more requests from the driver or passengers, all without any manipulation on the dashboard screen.
Volvo will indeed be the first car manufacturer to introduce Gemini into its cars, and will do so before the end of the year, through over-the-air updates. Motorists will therefore not have to go to a Volvo center; everything will be automatic. "Through this growing partnership, we are collaborating on cutting-edge solutions that are shaping the future of connected cars," said a Volvo executive.
Gemini in Volvos but also on Android Auto
Between the Swedish brand and the American giant, it's a love story that dates back to 2020. Like Renault, Volvo has abandoned its old Sensus operating system for Google's software, along with all of its services and applications. A way to make everything faster and smoother, and closer to the expectations of customers already accustomed to using these services on their smartphones.
That said, there will soon be a workaround to enjoy Gemini in a car. In a few weeks, all you need to do is connect your Android smartphone to a car compatible with Android Auto. Google plans to add the AI-powered voice assistant Gemini to its app to display your smartphone screen on the central display of cars, in addition to adding it to headsets (Android XR), watches (Wear OS) and televisions (Google TV), the company announced ahead of its annual Google I/O conference.
