Microsoft continues to work on Windows 11 widgets by adding exciting new features. One of them is coming to the latest beta update of the operating system.
Do you use widgets on Windows 11? You know, those little windows that position themselves wherever you want on your PC screen, over whatever it displays. The best known is probably the Stick Notes, simulating the famous sticky notes on which you write what you have to do soon or information you always want to have at hand. But aside from this, it's clear that widgets are seen as something a bit outdated.
Microsoft wants to change that by giving them a facelift. The Redmond company has recently taken a closer look at widgets after having neglected them for a long time. In the latest beta version of Windows 11, available if you're registered in the Windows Insider program, a new feature seen at the beginning of the year is being rolled out to more users, while another one is making its appearance. Let's see what it is exactly.
This is how Microsoft wants to make Windows 11 widgets more interesting
The beta build numbered 26120.4161 gives more options for customizing widgets on the Windows 11 lock screen. They are visible in the screenshot below. As long as a widget supports a small display size, it can be added to the list via the Add widget button. All the possibilities are grouped under Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
The other new feature seeks to give you more space to display more widgets. Not by covering the entire screen, but by setting up dashboards. Notice the navigation bar on the left in the following screenshot. There's a button labeled "My Feed" and another labeled "Widgets." These allow you to switch between the information displayed by default (weather, news, sports scores, etc.) and the information provided by the widgets you've previously selected. At the moment, there is no release date for the stable version of these features.
