20 years later, Malcolm and his family are back
Nearly 20 years after the end of Malcolm, the sitcom will be making its big comeback on Disney+. Filming in Vancouver recently wrapped, and the entire cast seemed to have a great time reuniting.
Viewers will be able to see again Frankie Muniz who plays the title role, Bryan Cranston and Jan Kaczmarek who will each reprise their roles as Hal and Lois. Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will return to play Francis and Reese, Malcolm's older brothers. However, Erik Per Sullivan, who played younger brother Dewey, will not be part of the cast. He has taken a step back from the world of television and film since the series ended. He will be replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.
New faces will be there with Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae who will play Jamie and Kelly, the last children of the family. Leah, Malcolm's daughter, will be played by Keely Karsten (The Fabelmans).
As for the synopsis, we know that Malcolm, his wife Tristan, played by Kiana Madeira and their daughter are invited to his parents' 40th wedding anniversary and they will be "drawn into the family chaos".
Bryan Cranston makes this promise that will delight fans
During an interview with IndieWire on the occasion of the New York premiere of his new film, The Phoenician Scheme, Bryan Cranston discussed his return to the sitcom Malcolm. The Breaking Bad star, who will co-star in his next film with Tom Hanks, said he was excited to reprise the role of Hal, the father of the Wilkerson family. The 69-year-old actor took the opportunity to make a promise to fans: Hal will be true to himself despite the 20 years that have passed:
I was asked to do physical humor in this series and I thought, 'Oh, it's been 20 years since I've done that.'
And expect to see or see him again in his underwear:
I have a few extra restrictions now, so I feel like I'm crawling around. I am, of course, naked again. This is absolutely no surprise.
Malcolm fans will remember that seeing Hal in Adam's outfit was a recurring gag in several episodes of the series.
The 4 new episodes of Malcolm do not yet have a release date but will be available on Disney+.
