Aylo's (formerly MindGeek) porn sites, including giants Pornhub, YouPorn, and Redtube, are refusing to comply with French age verification laws and will suspend the distribution of content in France.

Having been threatened for years with being blocked if they don't comply with the law, Pornhub, YouPorn and Redtube will finally stop broadcasting pornographic content on their platforms in France... voluntarily. The decision was made by the Canadian group Aylo, owner of these sites, and formerly known as MindGeek, reports Le Parisien.

“Starting Wednesday [June 4, 2025, editor’s note], all our adult sites will be information sites to explain our fight against symbolic, useless and dangerous legislation,” Solomon Friedman, partner at the investment fund Ethical Capital Partners, which owns Aylo, said during a conference in press.

Pornhub, YouPorn, and Redtube Refuse to Comply with the Law

France is requiring porn sites to implement age verification using a system that allows for double anonymity. These are supposed to force users wishing to access videos to prove their identity by sending a photo or an identity document. But Aylo refuses, and none of its platforms have complied with this measure so far.

Until April 11, the government allowed sites to simply identify users by credit card. But this tolerance was only temporary, as the authorities considered that minors could possess such a payment method. According to figures from Arcom (Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority), approximately 2.3 million minors view pornographic platforms in France.

For now, most porn sites do not comply with the legislation and do not offer double-anonymous age verification. One of the only ones to have implemented such a system is Tukif, a French service, which was forced to do so after the Paris Court of Appeal ordered its blocking in October 2024. Tukif argued at the time that this double-anonymous age verification operation is costly, and that the measure is useless if absolutely all porn sites are not affected.
