The round of new consoles is slowly starting up again. While the Nintendo Switch 2 has just been released, the competition is actively working on its future models. Who, Sony or Microsoft, will actually launch the new generation first? It's still too early to say. However, the first games are already starting to be confirmed, for example, on the future "PS6."
The PS6 will welcome a highly anticipated sequel
Let it be said, the big-budget games whose development has recently begun or is about to begin will most likely be released on the next generation of consoles. Now that we're closer to the end than the beginning of the current one, we can already get an idea of the first games that will see the light of day on the PS6 and the new Xbox.
On Sony's side, we can already expect at least one Naughty Dog game. If not Intergalactic, it will be the next one the Dogs are officially working on. Similarly, Hideo Kojima's new game, Physint, is reportedly leaning more towards a PS6 release. But another third-party game seems to be confirmed for the future console. It's the long-awaited sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. At the end of May, CD Projekt officially confirmed some big news. The game currently being called "Cyberpunk 2" is in pre-production. After extensively supporting the previous installment and releasing critically and popularly acclaimed DLC, the sequel is finally entering its design phase before full-blown development. The math is quickly done for the PS6. Indeed, since Cyberpunk 2 is now in pre-production, we can expect a release date of 5 or 6 years. In the studio's latest financial report, CEO Michał Nowakowski estimated that the game would see the light of day around 2030, or even 2031. Therefore, it's hard to imagine that the PS5 will still be relevant. Given the advancements in technology, it would be more likely that the PS6 is already established on the market, as is the future Xbox. Both should therefore be able to count on this already promising sequel.
