Four years after Village and two years after Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom is actively working on the next installment of its legendary horror franchise, currently presumed to be called Resident Evil 9. While the Japanese studio has been very discreet about it, we do know that it will be one of its most ambitious games and one with the highest development costs in its history. Another point we were somewhat certain about: a proper announcement was imminent. This has been further confirmed by an insider who is very active around the famous franchise.
Resident Evil 9 will give us cold sweats imminently
While many questions still hover over Resident Evil 9, there is no doubt that Capcom has huge ambitions for it. This new installment should mark a major new turning point for the franchise, now that Ethan Winters' story is over. In all likelihood, it should also be the next installment in the franchise to be released, potentially sometime in 2026. In any case, everything suggests that we should have many answers to our questions very soon.
On the evening of June 6, 2025, Summer Game Fest 2025 will open, replacing the late E3 as the summer video game festival. Among the most anticipated announcements during the event, Resident Evil 9 occupied a prominent place, but not yet fully confirmed. In this regard, the prolific insider Dusk Golem, who has already released countless reports about the franchise, indicated that he is "95% sure that Resident Evil 9 will be revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025."
As a reminder, it is to Dusk Golem that we owe many revelations, albeit not necessarily proven, concerning this highly anticipated next installment. It was notably he who reported that Resident Evil 9 would adopt an open-world approach, on a fictional island near Singapore, with presumably old hands like Claire and Leon in the lineup.
