Star Wars: Starfighter, Shawn Levy's film, is gradually being revealed, to the delight of fans of this very, very distant universe. Scheduled for theatrical release on May 26, 2027, the film confirms the franchise's return to cinemas, after several years on the small screen. But it's not all good news, since there's a chance it will mean the death of Blade, one of the future MCU films we weren't expecting much from... We'll explain why.

After The Mandalorian and Grogunext springStar Wars: Starfighter will be the second Star Wars film in the program (charged) from Disney between now and 2029. Worn byRyan Gosling, who will On this occasion, his first steps into George Lucas's fictional universe, this mysterious project will be independent of the Skywalker saga. Neither a prequel nor a sequel, it will tell how its hero, played by the star of Blade Runner 2049, protects his nephew against criminals.
One of these evil pursuers will be played by Mia Goth, the 31-year-old British actress and model seen in Ti West's horror trilogy consisting of X (2022), Pearl (2022), and MaXXXine (2024). The actress replaces Mickey Maddison, the star of Anora, who left the production for financial reasons. And it's precisely her presence in the cast that makes us fear the worst for Blade.
Bye-bye Blade?
Announced in 2019, the reboot of Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter, has experienced a chaotic production. After six years of supposedly being in Marvel's pipeline, the film hasn't moved forward. Constantly pushed back, its theatrical release date moved from 2023 to 2024, then to 2025. Unsurprisingly, the film is no longer scheduled for this year, and has been removed from the calendar by the studios.
According to rumors, the House of Ideas has simply decided not to pursue Blade and to abandon the project, a rumor supported by the presence of Mia Goth in the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter. Indeed, the latter had been announced in the casting of Blade in the role of Lilith, the super-villain, in April 2023. Of course, the actress could absolutely make the filming of the two projects coincide, but the fact that she is committed to a project other than the Marvel film is not a good sign at all for the latter.
It is very likely that the return of the vampire hunter is definitively buried...
