Waiting for Mass Effect 5? This new game is for you!

Now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been available for several months, a big question is burning on the minds of many players: when will we finally have news of Mass Effect 5? And the answer, apparently, is not for right away, since the summer conferences ended yesterday without any news of the BioWare game. However, for fans of space adventures, a new game likely to change things up was announced at the Future Games Show. Its name? The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.

A new The Expanse game announced

Developed by Owlcast Games, this new RPG, which will be set in the universe of The Expanse series, will place us in the shoes of a Pinkwater Security mercenary. The plot, which will take place in the 24th century, will take place more precisely on the asteroid Eros, where the stay will quickly turn disastrous. "Trapped in a deadly confinement and thrown into the heart of a conspiracy that is beyond you and extends to the far reaches of the solar system, you will have to adapt and take control of an incredibly advanced ship to hope to survive" we learn in particular.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, which will be played in third person, will allow us to create and customize our own captain before setting off to face terrible threats with our crew. "Your companions are much more than just useful resources for missions" specifies the studio. "These people all have their own traumas and their own loyalties. Some are seeking redemption. Others are hiding secrets. Over time, your relationships will develop or deteriorate depending on your choices and how you lead the group.".

Promising many explosive shootouts, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a game in which the exploitation of all our abilities and the cover system will represent the salvation of our survival. On the field, we will also be able to count on the presence of two companions, to whom we will be able to give orders to adapt our strategy in real time. As for the rest of the crew, they won't be sitting around doing nothing either: "The others will support you remotely in various ways, such as disabling systems or distracting the enemy," explains Owlcast Games.

An experience inspired by Mass Effect

And if all this makes you think of Mass Effect, that's normal! For the team, the trilogy developed by BioWare was "a true source of inspiration." "It was iconic for the Xbox 360 generation. Many of us first played it as teenagers, and it left a lasting impression on us," says Yuliya Chernenko, producer in charge of the design of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. "We're building on that legacy and expanding what players expect from this experience." Of course, fans of The Expanse won't be left out either, as the title will draw heavily from the universe of the science fiction series broadcast on Syfy and Prime Video. The presence of iconic locations, such as Ganymede, Ceres, Mars, and Luna, for example, has already been confirmed, as well as that of some familiar faces whose identities remain secret for the time being. We'll have to wait a little longer to find out more about The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, which will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series and PC at a date yet to be announced.
