According to the latest report from Steam, players using the platform are no longer predominantly equipped with an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. There is a newcomer to at the top of the rankings.
Just because the RTX 50s are available doesn't mean everyone has jumped on them. First, you have to have the budget for it, and then manage to get your hands on a copy despite extremely low stocks. Besides, it is apparently not even necessary to own a high-end model to enjoy your games on PC. This is evidenced by the long-term supremacy of the Nvidia RTX 3060 in the ranking of graphics cards used by Steam players.
Released in 2021, production of the 3060 has long since stopped to make way for the next generation. A way of doing things to which we are accustomed. Despite its relative seniority, it remains a safe bet on which many people still rely. In some cases, an RTX 3060 is more efficient than an RTX 4060, which is a shame. And yet, it has just given up its place as the undisputed leader in the Steam rankings for February 2025.
This Nvidia graphics card is now the favorite of gamers on Steam
The numbers speak for themselves: the RTX 3060 is dead, long live the RTX 4060! It is indeed the one that takes first place with an impressive jump of almost 4% between January and February of this year.
In total, 8.57% of gamers listed by Steam own this graphics card. Despite a 1.67% increase over the same period, the 3060 is therefore relegated to second place. It could also continue to fall since the RTX 4060 Ti has made its way to the third step of the podium with a gain of 3.11% in one month.
These models benefit from the release of the RTX 50 in the best possible way since their price is generally down. Gamers have surely been waiting for this opportunity to equip themselves. Nvidia does not have to worry about it anyway.
Regardless of the model, its graphics cards are very widely represented on Steam. You have to look at 17th place to find the mention of its main competitor AMD. And even then, not on a specific model: “AMD Radeon Graphics” being the only information available. Nothing to worry the green giant about.
