It's great news that Disney announced at the end of last year: the return of the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle for four new episodes. While we know that almost all of the main actors will be there, here are the characters we hope to see in this revival.
The main cast is almost complete for the return of Malcolm in the Middle
Nearly 20 years after the end of the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, it's official: the young genius and his crazy family will be back on Disney+ for four new episodes. In this round of new episodes, Malcolm has become a father to a daughter named Leah. According to the official synopsis provided by Disney+: "Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into family chaos when Hal and Lois demand their presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party."
What is certain is that almost the entire main cast is present with Frankie Muniz playing the title role, Bryan Cranston returning as Hal, the father, and Jane Kaczmarek returning to once again play Lois, the mother. On the brothers' side, Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Francis) and Justin Berfield (Reese) will also be part of the cast. Only Erik Per Sullivan, aka Dewey, the younger brother, will not be present. The latter ended his acting career in 2010. He will be replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. Finally, new faces will be added to the cast with Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae who will play Jamie and Kelly, the two youngest children of the family. Kiana Madeira and Keeley Karsten will play Tristan, Malcolm's partner, and Leah, respectively. And for the secondary characters? Here are the ones we'd like to see again for this revival.
#1 Stevie Kenarban (Craig Lamar Traylor)
Malcolm's best friend is beloved by fans, especially for his unique sense of humor and his friendship with the main character. There's no word on his return yet.
#2 Craig Feldspar (David Anthony Higgings)
Lois's colleague and lovesick crush is also popular with fans because of his hilarious scenes. It's a safe bet that he'll sign.
#3 Piama (Emy Coligado)
The opportunity for Francis's strong-willed wife to see her role a little more developed in these new episodes. Especially since the actress posted a video on Instagram from Vancouver airport, where this revival is filmed.
#4 Lionel Herkabe (Chris Eigeman)
A lightbulb kid as a child, he studied at Princeton and Harvard to obtain a doctorate in economics and founded his startup, which was valued at $200 million at its inception, but is now worth only $137 million. Broke and separated from his wife, he is Malcolm's teacher, whom he targets because he stands up to him. The two will play dirty tricks on each other.
#5 Caroline Miller (Catherine Lloyd Burns)
She is the teacher who appears from the beginning of the series. She is in charge of the gifted section at Malcolm's school and notices the boy's abilities. She quickly becomes fond of the main character, whom she takes under her wing. We can hope for a possible cameo.
#6 Cynthia Sanders (Tania Raymonde)
When she arrives in the class of lightheads, Malcolm falls under her spell, but it is a strong friendship that binds them both. After her last appearance in season 4 where she claims to have slept with Malcolm, Cynthia Sanders disappears without explanation.
#7 Kitty and Abe Kenarban (Merrin Dungey and Gary Anthony Williams)
Stevie's father and mother could return depending on how big a role Malcolm's best friend plays in the revival. Gary Anthony Williams announced his return on Instagram before saying he didn't know if he had the legal right to say so.
#8 Jessica (Hayden Panettiere)
Jessica appears in season 4 to babysit Malcolm, Reese, and Dewey, even though she's the same age as Frankie Muniz's character. She knows how to manipulate and use people and is mean and annoying.
#9 Eric Hansen (Eric Nenninger)
Raised by two fathers and a good friend of Francis, he is the one who encourages him to leave school and go to Alaska.
#10 Walter (Christopher Lloyd)
Walter is Hal's father and he didn't want his son to marry Lois but rather a woman from a wealthy background similar to his own. Unfortunately, this character disappears during season 7 and causes Hal's depression. We can imagine an appearance in a flashback.
Unfortunately, fans will not see Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars and Daniel von Bergen who played Ida, Otto and Edwin Spangler again since they have passed away in recent years.
Malcolm's return on Disney+ does not have an official release date.
