To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith, movie theaters will be showing the famous Star Wars installment this weekend. A re-release in theaters eagerly awaited by fans of the saga, which will also allow Disney to break a historic record...
Revenge of the Sith, a grand return to the cinema
Here we have Almost twenty years to the day since audiences first saw Revenge of the Sith in theaters. The final installment of the prequel trilogy is also the darkest and most intense. Anakin Skywalker definitively falls to the dark side of the Force, yielding to the sirens of Emperor Palpatine, whose honeyed and treacherous speech overcame his last reluctance. From today until Sunday, you will be able to (re)discover the film in theaters during a large-scale re-release to celebrate its 20th anniversary. And Disney isn't doing things by halves, since Revenge of the Sith will benefit from the biggest theatrical release ever for a domestic reissue!
New historic record for Star Wars
In the United States, the film will be shown in 2,775 theaters this weekend. The previous record was already held by a Star Wars installment, since The Phantom Menace, whose ending should have been very different, was shown in 2,700 cinemas when it was re-released in cinemas last year, for its 25th anniversary. These figures reflect the enthusiasm of spectators for the prequel trilogy, long shunned by fans, but also and above all the success of reruns of classics from the beginning of the 21st century. In the USA, Pride and Prejudice is back in theaters for its 20th anniversary, and has already grossed $4.7 million in 6 days... There's definitely a lucrative untapped market in reruns!
And you, which film would you like to see again in theaters?
