Contactless payment: PayPal wants to replace Apple Pay

Contactless payment: PayPal wants to replace Apple Pay

Among the many issues concerning the computer manufacturer, the one concerning Apple Pay reached its conclusion last summer. The Apple company is required to open the iPhone's NFC contactless chip to rival payment services, so that they too can enjoy the same ease of use as Apple Pay—all without having to go through the Cards app.

However, it must be recognized that the contactless payment revolution has not yet taken place. There hasn't been a rush to replace Apple Pay! PayPal, which was eagerly awaited given its importance, has finally decided to launch. First in Germany: in a few weeks, users of the online payment service will be able to pay with their iPhone using PayPal's contactless wallet.

The PayPal app will keep track of contactless payments, in addition to online payments, as always. The platform is also implementing a cashback mechanism on contactless purchases made at participating merchants. In the future, the application will also offer a payment system in installments (over 3, 6, 12 or 24 months).

This new feature, available on both iOS and Android (where things are more flexible), is intended to be extended to other countries later.
