Did Apple copy the Pixel design for the upcoming iPhone 17? Google's response is hilarious

Are the upcoming iPhone 17s copying the Pixel design a little too closely? While everything is just rumor at this stage, Google didn't hesitate to shoot a rather amusing little commercial that recalls Apple's borrowing from its competitor.

Is Apple running out of ideas for the design of its upcoming iPhone 17s? With the new iPhone lineup not expected to arrive for a few months, many internet users are choking on the supposedly follower side of the firm's designers regarding what most resembles an iPhone in the Android ecosystem.

While one might expect Google's silence on the matter—after all, how can you comment on the design of a device that hasn't yet been unveiled?—the firm has chosen to post a rather funny promotional clip on the subject. The video follows the codes of podcasts, with a Google Pixel on the right and an iPhone Pro on the left facing a microphone.

Google tackles Apple, which is also copying its competitors

The video begins by having the iPhone speak, which questions itself, in the face of redesign rumors: "It's crazy, can you imagine me redoing something that you did years ago?". A reference to the adoption of photo sensors placed in a strip on the back of the device. And the Pixel responds “that's very far-fetched, indeed”.

The iPhone then admits a series of borrowings from its competitor over the years.“Do you remember when you launched Night Sight – a year later I had the Night mode”, the device explains. It goes on to recall the launch of the magic eraser, followed three years later by the cleanup function on the iPhone 16.

The iPhone then recalls the arrival of Widgets well after those of the Pixels, which have had them since their very first version. The clip concludes with a joke, with the Pixel stating “in any case, we want to emphasize to everyone that these rumors are just rumors”. Before the iPhone repeated its “friend’s” sentence word for word in its entirety.
