Marvel: 10 Actors Who Could Play Ghost Rider in the MCU

Marvel: 10 Actors Who Could Play Ghost Rider in the MCU

It is rumored that Ghost Rider could soon make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), logically during the events of Avengers: Doomsday. But while we still don't know who could play the Ghost Rider, here are 10 actors who would be perfect for the role:

10) Gabriel Luna

Why not just bring back Gabriel Luna as the Ghost Rider. Indeed, the actor has already played the character in the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He played Robbie Reyes, another version of the Ghost Rider in the comics. Avengers: Doomsday could be the perfect opportunity to bring this iconic character back to the forefront. Especially since Gabriel Luna was very convincing as the Ghost Rider and helped to revitalize the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

9) Ryan Gosling

His name regularly comes to the forefront. Ryan Gosling is often mentioned in the various rumors surrounding the character's redesign. The 44-year-old actor has not yet had a role in the MCU. He could thus offer a brighter version of the character than the one in the comics. A variation more suited to the MCU. However, he's clearly not one of our first choices. But it would nevertheless be a fairly logical choice since, initially, in the comics, Johnny Blaze is blond.

8) Chris Evans

There's obviously little chance of this happening. Chris Evans already plays both Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Captain America. However, we would love to see Chris Evans in the role of Johnny Blaze. It even seems as if the character was invented for him, as his design, his face, and his style are so similar to Chris Evans. In fact, Chris Evans' performance in both Fantastic Four films could totally be adapted to a Ghost Rider performance. Johnny Storm is a hothead, a little guy who's a big shot, and a die-hard biker. Just like Johnny Blaze. Was it a casting mistake back then? Maybe.

7) Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy would probably offer a deeper, more mature, colder Ghost Rider than the other candidates. A performance full of tension. Impassive, cold, calculating, he could draw inspiration from his character of Tommy Shelby to create an uncompromising, icy, and inhospitable Ghost Rider.

6) Aaron Paul

He already has the looks for the job. Then, his character of Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad could totally be a version of Johnny Blaze. The 45-year-old actor could be a solid candidate to take on the role of the Rider. He could draw inspiration, in part, from his performance in Breaking Bad to offer an ambivalent hothead character with a dramatic trajectory. And then, it could totally relaunch his career, so we say a big yes!

5) Keanu Reeves

His name also regularly comes up in discussions. Fans would love for Keanu Reeves to be the new Ghost Rider. And frankly, he would have the stature to take on such a role. His role as John Wick gives him every legitimacy to inherit that of Johnny Blaze. He could thus offer a more measured performance than his counterparts, while still providing the charisma necessary for the character. A more nuanced Ghost Rider, plagued by his own demons and regrets. 4) Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Whether in The Walking Dead or The Boys, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the perfect actor to play ambiguous, ambivalent, tortured, and dark characters. The 59-year-old actor has the perfect job to land the role of Johnny Blaze. He could thus offer a mischievous, pretentious, individualistic Ghost Rider, capable of the best as well as the worst. And his annoying little smile would perfectly suit Johnny Blaze's face.

3) Norman Reedus

We remain in the universe of The Walking Dead with the excellent Norman Reedus. He is unforgettable in the role of Daryl. A character who could, on his own, be a variant of Ghost Rider. Accustomed to muscular and ambiguous roles, Norman Reedus could offer a more realistic Ghost Rider than his colleagues. With his biker style straight out of Sons of Anarchy, he may have the perfect profile to embody Ghost Rider. 2) Karl Urban

Some fans would have liked to see him in the shoes of Wolverine. But it's not easy to follow Hugh Jackman. If the character of Logan is still unavailable, Karl Urban could be the perfect choice to be the face of the new Ghost Rider. A charismatic actor with a bit of a biker style and fiery eyes, he's impressive in the role of Butcher, he has all the attributes needed to become the new Johnny Blaze. Unfortunately, the star of The Boys is already in the MCU, having played Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok. This could be a barrier to getting another role in the Marvel Universe...

1) Nicolas Cage

Why change a formula that already works? Nicolas Cage was the face of Johnny Blaze twice, in 2007 and 2012. While the Ghost Rider movies are sadly largely forgettable, Nicolas Cage's performance remains a cult classic (much like everything Nick Cage does). He's an eccentric, chameleon-like, slightly crazy actor that we love. And since Avengers: Doomsday will be the film of all excesses, why not simply bring back the 61-year-old actor?

Bonus: the entire cast of Sons of Anarchy

What if Marvel looked to the Sons of Anarchy? After all, the entire cast of this cult series is well-suited to take on the role of Johnny Blaze, with Charlie Hunnam at the forefront. Kim Coates, Theo Rossi, Ron Perlman, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, we're spoiled for choice.
