In a few days, the Summer Games Fest will begin, an annual summer event during which publishers and studios share and announce their upcoming video games. A crucial moment that allows players to better organize their spending based on the announcements. With games costing €90, you might as well think twice before paying. In the meantime, and even if it means giving your bank account a little respite, you might as well jump at the chance to add this free game to your library, especially since it's only available for a limited time.
A free game on Steam to grab urgently
On Steam, free games are pouring in. It's not uncommon for a title to drop to 0 for a holiday, like Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War this weekend, before disappearing from Steam like Mouthole, or because its previous publisher was banned from Steam like Bioprototype. Available for free for a limited time, Bioprototype should appeal to fans of survival and bullet hell, Vampire Survivors style. src="https://static.hitek.fr/img/up_s/2158391091/7d53f_foscarihero7c74bad74186abf50bb3f8ef4fe44acdb4e4f03.webp">
Returning on May 19, 2025, to PC via Steam, after an initial release on Nintendo Switch in 2023, Bioprototype is free for a limited time. And as Emprom Game, its development studio, explains in a post on Steam, Bioprototype was removed from Steam along with its publisher in early 2024 following the publisher's violation of the distribution platform's rules. "As we are not the publisher's team administrator, we cannot know the details of the violation. As a result, their Steam account has been permanently banned, and all games they published (including ours) have been permanently deleted."" the studio explains. "This violation had nothing to do with our team or Bioprototype, but Steam required all games to cooperate with the account in order to be removed.""
Emprom Game then apologizes for how the situation was handled, including outsourcing the delivery of PC keys to affected players. And faced with Steam's key sharing limitations, which limit the number of available keys to 2,000, many players have been forced to add their games to Epic. A horror. In addition, Emprom Game explains that it "signed anti-price discrimination agreements with the publisher on other platforms before the incident." "If we had released Bioprototype for free at any time, we would have faced legal action and heavy penalties," the studio justifies itself. "This was another mistake in our risk management - not anticipating how these contracts would limit our response in the event of a crisis."
To make amends, Emprom Game has decided to make Bioprototype free for two months. So, Bioprototype can be added to your library for free from May 20th to July 20th. In addition, all players who have added the game to their library will benefit from a 20% discount on the game series bundle. A nice game listed at €3.99 on the Nintendo eShop. We can therefore expect the price to go up that much once July 20th has passed. To add Bioprototype to your library, it couldn't be simpler, go to the game's Steam page, where you just have to click on the big blue "Add to Library" button.
