For several years now, Twitch users have been calling for the addition of a feature already present on some competing platforms: "live rewind." Indeed, at present, it is still impossible to rewind the stream of a live Twitch broadcast, which can be particularly annoying in certain situations. For example, if you missed the start of the live stream. Fortunately, however, it seems that things are finally about to change.
"Live rewind" coming to Twitch?
According to information shared by Zach Bussey, a Canadian streamer, the streaming platform has indeed started testing the feature behind the scenes. How did he get the information? We don't know, which naturally suggests some reservations for now. According to him, however, we should soon have confirmation of this change on Twitch. And for good reason, the long-awaited announcement is reportedly planned for Twitchcon Rotterdam 2025, which will take place during the weekend of May 31st.
In response to a user's question, Bussey also confirmed that this time it would be a true "live rewind," and not a limited version of the feature. Because for those who don't know, Twitch has already experimented with this in the past. At the time, however, it was only possible to go back two minutes in the broadcast stream. To see more, you had to wait for the VOD version to be hosted on the platform, which could be quite tedious.
A real asset for eSports
The addition of this feature would be all the more appreciated since Twitch is a particularly popular platform for eSports competitions, where it can prove very beneficial. In fact, this would finally allow it to catch up with the competition in this regard, and in particular with YouTube, which is also looking to become a new stronghold in the field. Check back in two weeks for confirmation.
