Until recently, the mere thought of writing such an article would have been synonymous with pure madness. And yet, it's now becoming the norm. After Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle, and Forza Horizon 5, another flagship Xbox franchise is about to arrive on PS5: Gears of War. Indeed, as announced last month, the first installment will arrive this summer on Sony's console, with a stunning remaster. And the good news is that the latter will already be available for testing this week.
A beta is coming for Gears of War: Reloaded
Indeed, we learned during the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday that the multiplayer mode of Gears of War: Reloaded will be entitled to a first beta session this week. But be careful, this one will not be open to everyone. To be eligible, you will need to meet one of the following three conditions:
- You have pre-ordered the game digitally on Xbox Series, PC, or PS5
- Be a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriber
- You own a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (purchased before May 5th at 6pm).
If this is the case, you will then have access to the Gears of War: Reloaded beta, which will take place more precisely from Friday, June 13th at 9pm (French time) to Sunday, June 15th, at the same time. This will allow you to test the Team Deathmatch mode in advance, which will be playable on three maps: Gridlock, Raven Down and Gold Rush.
A second session already announced
Note, however, that this will not be the only opportunity to get your hands on Gears of War: Reloaded in advance. A second beta session will also take place the following weekend, from Friday, June 20 at 9 p.m. to Sunday, June 22, at the same time. And this time, it will be the opportunity to test the King of the Hill mode on the Canals map, in addition to finding the Team Deathmatch mode enhanced with two additional maps: Courtyard and War Machine.
That should make many people happy, then. Finally, let us obviously point out that the beta of Gears of War: Reloaded will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Moreover, as announced by the studio, it will also be possible to enjoy the game in crossplay with your friends, regardless of the platform they are on. As for the final version of the game, it will be released on August 26, 2025 on all the aforementioned platforms.
