The Persona franchise has truly established itself in the video game landscape. Surpassing the original franchise of which it is a spin-off, Shin Megami Tensei, in terms of popularity, each new iteration is eagerly awaited. However, the next upcoming release is not a new installment, but a remake of the fourth. However, after the success of the fifth, the sixth is well underway. Persona 6 is being assembled behind the scenes
Last weekend was full of announcements. And for good reason, the Summer Game Fest conferences punctuated each day with several highlights. Atlus knew how to find its place for a presentation that will have made an impression on fans! At the Xbox Games Showcase, the studio finally unveiled what everyone was expecting: the upcoming release of Persona 4 Revival, the infamous remake.
But while the rehashes of the latest installments keep fans of the saga busy, they haven't forgotten the most important thing: where is Persona 6? In fact, it will be nine years next September since the release of the fifth installment. As a result, some are getting impatient that a sequel hasn't yet seen the light of day.
It must be said that Atlus has had a busy schedule in recent months. Between announcements surrounding the rehashes of Persona 4 and 5, as well as the release of Metaphor ReFantazio, there hasn't been much time to discuss a sixth installment. At least, until this weekend.
In fact, Kazuhisa Wada, the studio director in charge of the license, boasted a press release to accompany the announcement of P4R. Detailing the teams' work on this project, he also mentioned the next one. Thus, he assures that "we are currently actively working on the development of the future of the Persona license." He also wants to clarify the ambition to meet "fan expectations."
Wada therefore invites said fans to be patient. Persona 6 is indeed in preparation, but we will have to wait a little longer for concrete news. For the moment, we must suspect that the studio will focus on the release of the remake. But, after that, things could well accelerate for the future original installment of the saga.
