Much to the chagrin of many gamers, Hollow Knight Silksong was once again absent from this Summer Game Fest period. However, as many have noticed, Team Cherry's Arlesienne made a brief appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase, where it served as an illustration for the ROG Xbox Ally presentation. This gave Xbox president Sarah Bond the opportunity to declare that the game will be present at the launch of the portable console later this year. The creators of Hollow Knight, however, have one clarification to make.
Hollow Knight Silksong release clarified by Team Cherry
Indeed, following Sunday's conference, Team Cherry wanted to clarify several points. First of all, as we have already mentioned in previous articles, Hollow Knight Silksong is still planned for this year. Without getting too involved for the moment, the studio has assured that the title will be released before the 2025 holiday season, and that it will also be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and even Nintendo Switch 2. In other words, everyone will be able to enjoy it.
However, contrary to what Sarah Bond's words during the Xbox Games Showcase may have suggested, this will not be a launch title for the ROG Xbox Ally. "We are not tied to the release of a console," assured Matthew Griffin, the man in charge of marketing for Hollow Knight Silksong, on the game's Discord. Therefore, whatever the launch date of the portable console made by ASUS in collaboration with Xbox, it should not be taken at face value with regard to the game's release.
A release closer than we imagine?
The good news to take from this story, however, is that this doesn't necessarily invalidate the rumors that have emerged in recent weeks. Indeed, shortly before the start of the Summer Game Fest, some insiders seemed to imply that Hollow Knight Silksong could be released before the end of the summer, an idea that was then completely swept away by the game's absence during the conferences. But given the latest information, this could ultimately remain within the realm of possibility... even if it is probably wiser not to get our hopes up too much either.
