Pokemon Scarlet & Purple: You can catch extremely rare Pokemon, go for it!

Pokemon Scarlet & Purple: You can catch extremely rare Pokemon, go for it!

There's a lot going on around the Pokemon franchise right now. On mobile, TCG Pocket has just received a new expansion, while Legends ZA is still planned for consoles for the end of 2025. In the meantime, Scarlet and Purple are keeping the public busy on Nintendo Switch (and on Switch 2 starting June 5th). And like every weekend, the game gives you the opportunity to easily catch a bunch of Pokemon. These ones are rare too, so get your Pokéballs ready!

Your game is infested with specimens to catch

Every weekend is meant to be an event in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple. In fact, Game Freak brings its community to life every weekend around a time dedicated to catching. Last time, we were talking about Teracrsital raids to catch a Metaloss. This time, it's a little different since it's a massive appearance.

So, from May 30th to June 1st inclusive, bug-type Pokémon are invading your game on Scarlet and Purple. It's time to arm yourself with your Pokéballs (or your net, should we say!) to complete your Pokédex. Three specimens are thus in the spotlight with a more than tenfold chance of encountering shiny, therefore extremely rare Pokémon. Head to these different areas to find them:

  • Paldea: Ballweaver
  • Septentria: Mimigal
  • Mimitoss: under the Terra-Dome of the Blueberry Institute

A sizeable Pokemon in Scarlet and Purple

The horde of bug Pokemon isn't the only challenge awaiting you this weekend in Scarlet and Purple! Fans of Teracrystal Raids can join the fight for a chance to win a very tough specimen. Returning after its appearance on May 23, Garrichop is back from May 30 to June 1. If you've already caught it before, you won't be able to get it again. But if you haven't, now's the time to do it.

Available in 7-star raids, this Ground-type Tereracrystal Garchomp has an Ultra-Powerful Badge. It's a great opportunity to add a top fighter to your team in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple. What's more, Blissey can be faced in 5-star raids. By knocking it out, you can collect Tera-Shards as well as Exp Bobons.

How to unlock mass spawns and raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple?

A mass spawn event is particularly interesting, as many specimens of the same species appear on the map. Likewise, Tecristal raids are a great opportunity to acquire choice figures. However, you must first have completed certain events after the end of Pokemon Scarlet and Purple to unlock them. Additionally, make sure your console is connected to the internet. Finally, note that you will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership for raids only. Then, follow these steps:

  • Launch the game on your Switch
  • From the main menu, go to the Poké Portal
  • Go to the "Mystery Gifts" menu
  • Click on "Receive Poké Portal News"
  • Start your game and catch them all!
