Nintendo Switch 2: Here are all the games that will get an update on the console

The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 is now imminent. With exactly one week to go before its market arrival, the new hybrid console is the subject of much discussion. On the one hand, features continue to be confirmed, while the launch line-up is becoming even more precise. This time, it's the upgrades to the previous console's releases that interest us.

Highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 editions at launch

It's been 5 years since we last saw the launch of a truly new console in its own right. Before the PS6 and the upcoming Xbox, the Nintendo Switch 2 is slowly starting to bring the Big N closer to the competition by approaching the standards of our time. This will include upgrading several titles released on the previous hybrid console.

That said, there are two situations: games that benefit from a free update and those that benefit from a more significant, and therefore paid, upgrade. Here are all the games that will benefit from an upgrade on the new console:

Freely improved games

  • ARMS
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
  • Game Builder Garage
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  • Pokémon Scarlet
  • Pokémon Purple
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Paid updates on Nintendo Switch 2

As a reminder, paid updates to the "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" version will cost from €9.99 to €19.99. Thanks to them, all these games will be optimized for the new machine. Thus, they will display a better resolution and will support new features, such as GameChat or possibly mouse play. Some even welcome new levels for the occasion, like Super Mario Party Jamboree or Kirby and the Forgotten Lands.

  • Kirby and the Forgotten Lands
  • Pokemon Legends ZA
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
  • Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
  • Shadow Labyrinth
  • Sid Meier's Civilization VII
  • Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree
  • Tamagotchi Plaza
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to take advantage of the paid upgrade?

Upgrading to a Nintendo Switch 2 edition is available to those who already own the game on the first console. Whether it's a physical or digital version, simply go to the page of the title you're interested in from the e-Shop or the My Nintendo Store website. You can even go to partner stores, particularly those specializing in video game sales, to purchase a download code so you don't have to enter your banking information online.

Finally, note that the games The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom can benefit from a small special offer. In fact, subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack benefit directly from the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade thanks to their subscription. Other games may be affected in the future. This could boost interest in this formula!
