For its fifth edition, Summer Game Fest 2025 is taking place from Friday, June 6th at 11 PM until June 9th. Like every year, the "new E3" organized by Geoff Keighley will be the scene of major announcements about the video games of tomorrow. While we should see many big titles already known, we should also be treated to announcements about new games. Here, we're going to compile a list of the highly anticipated new titles that could make their debut during this summer video game festival.
Shivers of excitement with the announcement of the long-awaited Resident Evil 9?
Still on the side of huge Japanese licenses, we expect Capcom to invite itself to Summer Game Fest 2025 to infect us with the announcement of the much-watched Resident Evil 9. While we have had to make do with leaks about it for the moment, we do know that it is an extremely ambitious new opus and one of the most expensive productions ever made by the Japanese giant. According to recent rumors, everything seems to indicate that it should finally show the tip of its zombified nose very soon. Once again, we're closely watching the opening ceremony for the strong return of a horror legend.
Tomb Raider at Summer Game Fest 2025, this time it's the right one?
Among our biggest video game expectations, the next Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics naturally occupies a very special place. After years of silence and worrying rumors, we're keeping our fingers crossed that Lara Croft will grace Summer Game Fest 2025 with her presence. Following the remasters of the first six games, we're certainly expecting a strong comeback for the adventurer after a solid, but somewhat sluggish, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Will we see a key video game icon during the opening ceremony on the evening of June 6? All bets are off.
Final Fantasy 9 Remake finally announced to the great delight of fans?
Another game highly anticipated by many fans and with an incredible story: Final Fantasy 9 Remake. After months, even years, of rumors, the latest echoes about it have become more and more insistent and promising. Everything suggests that Square Enix should finally lift the veil on it soon, and what better time than Summer Game Fest 2025? All that's missing is a certain Kingdom Hearts 4 also being the subject of a big announcement, and the fantasy would be complete.
Project 007 should also infiltrate the ceremony
After the iconic Hitman saga, we know that IO Interactive is currently working on a new video game adaptation of James Bond 007, which we hope will be as memorable as the legendary GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64. While the famous spy has so far managed to avoid blowing his cover too much, everything suggests that its development is already well advanced. We also know that it should be an Origin Story for the elite MI6 agent. According to recent rumors, he should definitely infiltrate the opening ceremony of Summer Game Fest 2025. However, you shouldn't blink, or you risk being taken down by a silent Walter PPK.
A return of ATLUS and Persona 6 to be expected at Summer Game Fest 2025 ?
Staying with the big names in Japanese RPGs, it's impossible not to think of Persona 6 from ATLUS. After the excellent Metaphor ReFantazio, we hope it will offer us a grand announcement of the highly anticipated sixth installment of its favorite license. We also wonder what crazy story ATLUS will offer players and a new motley crew of characters, each as memorable as the next. Will the masks be dropped at the opening ceremony of Summer Game Fest 2025? We hope so, at least, personally.
A new page soon to be opened for the Tales of saga?
Another iconic name in Japanese RPGs, this time from Bandai Namco, it's high time the Tales of saga told us a new story. Four years after the very good but also very different Tales of Arise, we expect a new page in the iconic franchise to be revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025. If this is the case, it should most likely take place during the opening ceremony. We'll keep our pens on the lookout.
Santa Monica (God of War) could make a big splash at Summer Game Fest 2025
Since the excellent God of War Ragnarok in 2022, Santa Monica has been keeping a low profile and working on a new game that is still very mysterious. It would not seem likely that we will experience another Kratos adventure, unless it is a spin-off. However, it could be that this new project has no real connection to the God of War franchise. A certain amount of artistic vagueness therefore still hovers around this future title directed by the influential Cory Barlog. In any case, we are naturally keeping a close eye on the next production from this talented studio, and we hope that it will be revealed to the world at the opening ceremony of Summer Game Fest 2025.
Half-Life 3 finally announced after an interminable wait?
One of the biggest pipe dreams in video games, even a myth at this stage, Half-Life 3 could well become a reality very soon, more than twenty years after a second opus as masterful as the heartbreaking cliffhanger of its Episode 2. We know in any case that Valve is developing a game in this legendary license, and that it is currently in the intensive playtesting phase. We therefore dream more than ever that Gordon Freeman will show the tip of his crowbar, and Summer Game Fest 2025 is shaping up to be an event that could not be more conducive to an announcement so eagerly awaited by all fans of the FPS genre. Here again, we should have a clear picture during the opening ceremony.
Finally any news on BioShock 4 at Summer Game Fest 2025?
In the ranks of iconic FPS licenses, and here more specifically immersive sims, we call BioShock 4 to the helm. 12 years after Infinite and five years after its announcement, its studio Cloud Chamber and its publisher 2K maintain a particularly deafening silence about it. The project has in any case been the subject of numerous reboots, and we hope that it is not stuck in development hell. That said, we've received some pretty promising feedback lately, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it comes back with a proper announcement at Summer Game Fest 2025.
Total War Star Wars: a fan dream that could soon come true?
To conclude this overview of the new game announcements we're waiting for During Summer Game Fest 2025, we turn our gaze to a galaxy far, far away. According to several reports, the talented British studio Creative Assembly is indeed working on a Total War-style adaptation of the legendary Star Wars franchise. After the excellent Warhammer 3, the studio is also expected to develop its next game on a brand-new engine. And what better way to show it off than with such an ambitious adaptation? May the Force be with us as this project, which on paper seems extremely promising, becomes reality and puts stars in our eyes during Geoff Keighley's event.
